Education and Training

Licensed Clinical Psychologist PSY27485

My academic journey in psychotherapy began at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Shortly thereafter, I completed my Master’s degree with Highest Honors at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. This journey continued on to Minnesota, as I completed my Doctorate at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. I completed both my Doctoral Internship and my Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California- Berkeley.

Training throughout each of my degrees has focused heavily on development, and also the importance of culture and community in shaping our understanding of ourselves, others, and society as a whole. My dissertation, “A Case for Mindfulness Practice in Fostering Multicultural Competence in Counseling,” focused on the emerging neurological research in relation to mindfulness practices and the way human beings experience relationships- especially in therapy. Visible and invisible intersecting identities shape our worldview, and mindfulness practices help slow down these processes in relationships to bring clarity and mutual understanding.

Currently, I hold a Senior Staff Psychologist position at the University of California -Berkeley. In addition to my clinical position at Berkeley, I am a liaison to the Cal Athletics Department where I work extensively with elite athletes seeking to improve their performance in scholarship and in sport, and to live richer, more fulfilling lives. I also work as a liaison to the Golden State Warriors to help with psychological needs of the players and team, alike.
